Cultivating Resilience: Transforming Immunity to Change through Embodied Creativity and Intentional Collaboration

“But in that milky, dim strangeness lies the way. It can’t be found in the superficial order
imposed by positive and negative opinions, the good/bad, yes/no moralizing that denies fear
and ignores mystery.” Lao Tzu Tao Te Ching – Ursula Le Guin.

What can you experience at the end of the program?

Engaging in embodied, creative practices like Social Presencing Theater can help stimulate new ways and paths making learning possible, the brain’s ability to reorganize and adapt throughout an individual’s lifespan- Resilience is that Journey and not a fixed destiation or outcome.

This can support the development of new neural pathways and the capacity for continuous learning (David Rock; Kirsti Lonka).

Mindfulness and Emotional Regulation: The principles of Social Presencing (Arawana Hayashi) and the exploration of “Immunity to Change”(Robert Keagan, Lisa Lahey) can cultivate mindfulness and self-awareness, which are linked to enhanced emotional regulation and the ability to navigate personal and professional challenges more effectively.

Cognitive Flexibility: The workshop’s focus on exploring paradoxes (as a social game) and transforming challenges into creative energy can promote cognitive flexibility, the brain’s and body’s capacity to switch between different thoughts and actions. This flexibility is crucial for adapting to change and generating innovative solutions as well as in restaurative practices (adaptive energy).

Proprioception and Embodied Cognition: The incorporation of embodied practices, such as the “Stuck” and “Seed” exercises, can enhance proprioception, the ability to perceive and interpret internal bodily signals and “where do I stop and you start”. This can lead to a deeper understanding of one’s own emotional and physical experiences in what means ‘a safe space”, which can inform decision-making and decision making capital

Social Engagement and Collaboration: The group-based nature of the workshop, with opportunities for peer reflection and collective mirroring, can stimulate the brain’s and body’s social engagement systems, fostering better communication, empathy, and feeling of agency crucial for change from individual to a collective.

Motivation and Reward Processing: By holding participants through a process of transform “Immunity to Change” into flourishing and creative energy, the workshop can positively impact the brain’s and body’s reward and motivational systems, potentially enhancing an individual’s drive, self-efficacy, and overall well-being.

Practices presented in this 2-day online workshop can contribute to lifelong learning and holistic personal and professional development, enabling coaches, educators, and embodiment practitioners to better support their clients, students, and themselves in navigating the complexities of the current global context.
